Babie Club · facilitator

Ellie Nik is a writer, creative director and the promoter behind Melbourne underground event series Babie Club. She started promoting in 2014 with HELL, a weekly Saturday club night at The Liberty Social, and launched Babie Club at Laundry Bar in 2019.

Since then Babie Club has run 20+ events at venues including The Toff, New Guernica and Miscellania — concept nights built on internet subcultures, immersive world-building and high-energy dancefloors.

Dance Party

After moving to Melbourne and building a prolific career as a techno and gabber DJ in the underground party scene from 2017, Slam decided it was time to start Dance Party in 2019 – there was just an instinctual feeling that the scene needed it. The first event at Angel Music Bar saw an all-night b2b program with a distinctive house party energy, and since then, Dance Party has amassed around 20 events to its name. If you’ve ever found yourself in the club at some hour of the AM, checking train times, then copped a hard wall of dark techno, gabber and bass that’s held you there til the house lights came on – then you already know.

Frequenting major music institutions like Miscellania, Sub Club and Hope St Radio, Dance Party platforms queer artists and harder sounds, while looking to channel an 90s/00s rave atmosphere over a polished club night feel. In the last 7 years Dance Party has hosted international headliners such as Estoc (USA) and Shampain (IRE), as well as local legends like Female Wizard, Primary Thug, DJ Kiti and Caucasian Opportunities.

Delight Records · Game in the Groove

Zayler is a Melbourne producer and DJ who has been running events in Melbourne for over 16 years.

His first foray into promoting was throwing electro-house events in 2010 as Voltage, and he later launched Delight Records in 2016 – a multi-genre electronic label that champions the local scene. Delight hosts a variety of events like cozy video game nights, booty-shaking open-air day parties, and late night raves, often with free entry and incorporating interactive community elements like tournaments and raffles.

With 120+ Delight events under his belt and 70+ as other brands or in collaboration with other promoters, Zayler’s curatorial taste today focuses on a broad spectrum of genres – chill funk, lofi, house, disco, garage, live jazz, DNB, tech house, hyper-pop, footwork, breakbeats and more.

Zayler has run events everywhere across Melbourne from clubs like Revolver Upstairs, Brown Alley and Sub Club, to iconic bars like Section 8 and Workshop, and has hosted major artists including Snakehips, 1991, and Camo & Krooked. Today, Zayler runs 6-10 events a year, platforming local artists through Delight events and the eponymous record label.

Hyde Park Hi-Fi

Dan Gorza, also known as DJ @girl_tool , is a Perth-born graphic designer, radio host and promoter now based in Melbourne.

Dan started out hosting radio shows in 2018 in parks and house parties, and before long was running warehouse parties, club events, and even multi-day mini festivals. His event series @hydeparkhifi , co-run with @lachie.wav , originated at Hyde Park and quickly became Perth’s pre-eminent underground music event series. Hosting artists like Ninajirachi, Underscores, Daine, Mechatok and DJ G2G, Hyde Park Hi-Fi events now bounce between Melbourne and Perth and have found their home at major venues like Port Beach Brewery and The Rechabite (Perth), as well as Miscellania and New Guernica (Melbourne).

Accumulating 60-70 parties since his club promoter debut in 2021, Dan’s curation focuses on highlighting underground sounds that DJs want to play, but feel they can’t play elsewhere. From hyperpop, cheesy trance and internet rap, to latin, jersey, and baltimore club – even club club.
